Sidewalk & Pavement Signs
A sidewalk sign is a freestanding sign that stands on the footpath outside a business. They're also called pavement signs, sandwich boards, A-boards, or A-frame signs — the term varies by country, but they describe the same job: putting your message where foot traffic is.
This is our full outdoor freestanding range, covering both the low, wide format that sits at eye level for someone walking past, and the taller upright signs visible further down the street. All are portable and need no fixings, so they come in at close and move whenever you reconfigure.
Every sign is powder-coated aluminum, so it won't rust — including in coastal locations where salt air is hard on signage. All arrive assembled and supplied as blanks, ready for a signwriter to apply your artwork, and all are double-sided so your message reads to people approaching either way.
Folding and low-profile signs
A-Frame Sign — the classic folding board. 24″ × 29.1″ (61 × 74 cm) with an 18.1″ × 18.1″ (46 × 46 cm) face, weighing 8.8 lbs (4 kg). Folds flat for storage.
Large Sidewalk Sign — the same idea, larger. 27.6″ × 39.4″ (70 × 100 cm) with a 23.6″ × 31.5″ (60 × 80 cm) panel, for a permanent signwritten message.
Large Letter Sidewalk Sign — the same frame with rails and 404 letter tiles included, so you can rewrite your specials daily. A separate 23.6″ × 13.8″ (60 × 35 cm) branding area keeps your logo fixed while the message changes.
Rounded Sidewalk Sign — a single rigid panel with an arched top, 30.7″ × 20.1″ (78 × 51 cm). Doesn't fold, so it holds its shape and takes up less footpath depth.
Swinging signs
Swing Sign — a panel that hangs and swings between two uprights, catching the eye through movement. Assembles at 63″ (160 cm) or 31.1″ (79 cm), with a 20″ × 26″ (51 × 66 cm) face, and includes a sandbag.
Letter Swing Sign — the same swinging panel with rails and letters, for a message you change daily.
Tall standing signs
Large Standing Rectangle Sign — 41.9″ (106.3 cm) tall with an 11″ × 33.5″ (28 × 85 cm) face, weighing 30.9 lbs (14 kg). The hollow base fills with water, making it the most stable sign in the range.
Large Standing Curve Sign — 44.9″ (114 cm) tall with a curved 11″ × 37.4″ (28 × 95 cm) face and a water-fillable base.
Standing Round Sign — a round face on a pedestal base, in two sizes: 40″ (102 cm) with a 9.8″ (25 cm) face, or 45.7″ (116 cm) with a 15.7″ (40 cm) face.
Poster signs
Poster Sidewalk Sign — takes a printed A1 poster behind clear acrylic, 39″ × 24.6″ (99 × 62.5 cm). Includes a sandbag, and the feet remove with an Allen key for transport.
Tall Poster Sidewalk Sign — the same A1 system at 63″ (160 cm), for visibility further down the street.
Common questions
Which sidewalk sign should I choose?
It depends on how often your message changes and how far away you need to be seen. For a permanent signwritten message, the A-Frame Sign or Large Sidewalk Sign. For a message you change daily, the Large Letter Sidewalk Sign and Letter Swing Sign include rails and letters. For designed artwork you print yourself, the Poster Sidewalk Signs take a standard A1 poster. For maximum visibility down a street, the tall standing signs at over a metre. And for movement that draws the eye, the Swing Signs.
How do sidewalk signs stay upright in wind?
It varies by sign. The Large Standing Rectangle and Curve Signs have hollow bases you fill with water, so they weigh themselves down. The Swing Signs and Poster Sidewalk Signs include a sandbag. For the rest, Sandbags for A-Frame Signs are available separately. In exposed or coastal locations, or in heavy weather, bring any freestanding sign inside.
Do I need council approval for a sidewalk sign?
This depends on your local council. Many allow removable sidewalk signs during trading hours, provided they don't obstruct the footpath. If your area has stricter rules, wall signs or door signs display key information without using pavement space.
What if I don't have footpath space?
Window signs, wall signs and blade signs keep you visible from the street without taking up pavement.
Do they fold flat for storage?
The A-Frame Sign, Large Sidewalk Sign and Large Letter Sidewalk Sign fold. The Rounded Sidewalk Sign and standing signs don't, but the standing signs' bases empty for carrying. The Poster Sidewalk Signs have removable feet that come off with an Allen key.
Do they arrive branded?
No — our signs are supplied as blanks. A local signwriter can apply a vinyl decal to each face. If you'd like advice, get in touch.
Do you ship to my country?
