What is the Swing Sign?

The Swing Sign is a freestanding pavement sign with a hanging panel that swings between two uprights. It assembles at two heights — 63″ (160 cm) tall, or 31.1″ (79 cm) short — using the included extension legs, with a 20″ × 26″ (51 × 66 cm) sign face. Made from aluminum, supplied as a blank, and comes with a sandbag and all assembly hardware.

What else is it called?

The Swing Sign is also known as a sandwich board, A-frame sign, or A-board. In the US and Canada it's usually called a sidewalk sign; in the UK, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand, a pavement sign. Because the panel hangs and swings rather than sitting rigid, it's also called a swinging or pendulum sign.

What heights does it come in?

Two configurations, both included. Tall is 63″ (160 cm) high — visible from further down the street. Short is 31.1″ (79 cm) — low enough to sit under a window or beside a doorway without blocking the view. Both are 23.6″ (60 cm) wide and 27.6″ (70 cm) deep, and you can reconfigure between them using the extension legs.

Does it come with a sandbag?

Yes. A sandbag is included, so the Swing Sign is ready for outdoor use without buying stabilising weights separately.

Is it suitable for windy areas?

It suits low to moderate wind, and the included sandbag adds stability. Because the panel hangs rather than fixing rigidly, it moves in the breeze — which catches the eye, but means very exposed sites aren't ideal. In heavy weather we'd recommend bringing it inside.

How big is the branding area?

The sign face is 20″ × 26″ (51 × 66 cm) — that's the area your artwork applies to.

What straps are included with the Swing Sign?

Both a brass set and a set matched to your chosen sign color, so you can pick the look that suits your frontage.

Does it need assembly?

Yes, and all hardware is included for both configurations.

Does the Swing Sign arrive branded?

No — it's supplied as a blank. A local signwriter can apply a vinyl decal to each face. If you need more information, check out our blog post on the sign writing process.

Can you write on the Swing Sign with a pen?

We don't recommend using any kind of pen or marker on the Swing Sign. For lettering or artwork, a local signwriter can apply a vinyl decal.

Awesome sign

I have invested in several pieces from George and Willy for vendor shows and events, but just built a new studio. I bought this sign for exhibitions in a small gallery space, and this sign is exactly what I was looking for. It’s modern, very sturdy, and the height is perfect. It was tricky pulling the plastic layer off of the acrylic sign insert from the inside; maybe not necessary for the inner layer, as the bottoms are adhered? After some elbow grease I got the poster in, and it looks great! Thanks!

We have purchased four of these now for our venues, the signs are well made and look great. The ability to swap out the internal posters is what we love best about these.

We got this sign to maximize creative ability and it does just that. You can print signs as advertised which is great but the insert it comes with also has worked really well with our chalk markers, at least for us. They don't necessarily recommend this but it has been perfect for what we needed.
